Shaker & Spoon and a Giveaway

****THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. WE HAVE A WINNER!****

One of the perks of having a cocktail blog (besides calling cocktail hour ‘work’ with a semi-straight face), is that people send you cocktail stuff. Uh, yes: DON’T MIND IF I DO. And you know what else I don’t mind? A GIVEAWAY.

I love that we live in a world where subscription cocktail services are a thing. Did you even realize that this is a thing? IT’S A THING. And while I preach heavily about garden-to-glass cocktailing, I also recognize that having a garden to pull a lot of your drink ingredients from is a luxury that not everyone has. Also…fancy cocktails are hard. But that’s why Shaker & Spoon is just so damned genius. Every month, you receive a cocktail box from them that is curated around one type of liquor in your liquor cabinet. The box comes with all the high-end ingredients that are the building blocks to three awesome craft cocktail recipes (simple instruction cards come with each drink recipe). They make it real dang easy to look like you know what you’re doing behind the bar at your next dinner party. Or on a random Tuesday when you are drinking by yourself and want to impress your poultry. Have I said too much?

And those amazing cocktail geniuses at Shaker & Spoon want to give away one of their October ¡Viva Mezcal! cocktail boxes to one of our lucky followers (details below). *CONTEST NOW CLOSED.

But let’s first have a look at the box I received, so you’ll get a feel for how this all works. I got September’s selection–the Campari Hard box, which contained all the necessary elixirs and produce to make the Grove & Bramble cocktail, the Marbles in the Garden cocktail, and the Wherever I May Foam cocktail.

I had help unpacking.

I love the recipe cards:

Background info and recipe on one side, illustration of the drink on the other. Dummy-proof. Also pretty chicken-sturdy.

First cocktail we whipped up was the Grove & Bramble:

Campari, blackberry-honey syrup, lemon juice, tiki bitters, ginger beer, and a zinnia garnish added from my garden.

Next up was the Marbles in the Garden:

Campari, orgeat, fresh lime and orange juices, and Bittercube Blackstrap Bitters. With some background chicken.

Shoulder chickens are kind of awkward to cocktail with.

And last but certainly not least, the Wherever I May Foam:

Fresh egg white (straight from the coop), Campari, simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, coconut oil, and coconut flakes allllllll day long.

GAH! Look at that color and look at that egg white foam! So gorgeous.

I get a lot of judgement for drinking in my pajamas. But I do it anyway.

Suffice it to say, I had a a lot of fun making these cocktails. And I know you will, too–especially because you can get 15% off your order by using the code: DRINKINGWITHCHICKENS.

And now…T H E  G I V E A W A Y ! ! ! (NOW CLOSED)
