When I first registered National Drinking with Chickens Day alllllllllll the way back in 2019, I didn’t really have any concrete plans for the concept other than I just personally found it incredibly amusing to have a national day. At the last minute, we threw together a party at our old house—it was nothing fancy or big, but it was ALAWT of fun. And right then and there, I knew I wanted to turn it into a public event. So that was the ol’ plan for 2020.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnd then 2020. And a subsequent five years of really demanding life stuff that prevented us from doing anything more than social media celebrations. And in that time, I’ve watched this ridiculous thing, this National Drinking with Chickens Day, grow into a giant, viral thing. Who woulda thunk. WHO WOULDA THUNK?!!!

So here we are: 2025. This was the first time in FIVE YEARS we could actually do a physical party. Was it a public party? No (but hopefully next year!). But it was the first actual party that we’ve ever thrown at our new house…and that’s pretty damned special.

The theme this year was Caftans, Cocktails, & Chickens (we do really love a theme), and, like the ladies (and gents) of leisure that we are, we got dressed up, drank some fancy dranks, and stared at chickens.

Speaking of fancy drinks, we were SO EXCITED to work with Griffo Distillery this year. Based in Petaluma, California (the historical egg capital of the world!!!!), they’ve been on my Sonoma County Drinking with Chickens Itinerary forEVER (more on that itinerary soon). Not only are they located in a very chicken-centric part of California, but they have the absolute loveliest line up of truly delicious bespoke spirits. From the multi-award winning Scott Street Gin, to Stout Barreled Whiskey, to Vodka, to Brandy, to a ready-to-drink Espresso Martini—they’ve got a little something-something for everyone.

I created three original cocktails for the day using Griffo Distillery Spirits (you can find the full recipes here):

A Meyer Lemon Marmalade French 75 using their Scott Street Gin,

A Hibiscus Cosmopolitan using Griffo vodka,

And an Orange Chocolate Whiskey Sour using their Stout Barreled Whiskey.

We also served up some of their ready-to-drink Espresso Martinis.

And we had THE CUTEST mobile bar and the best bartenders slinging our drinks via Dashh Bar. Dani & Tim were such pros and so kind and flexible with all of my weird cocktail creation requests. If you are in the LA area and are in need of a bar and bartending services, I cannot recommend them highly enough! Follow them on IG at @dashhbar.

To complement all those beautiful drinks, we were so lucky to have the amazing charcuterie art of OnBoard LA. It was gorgeous and delicious and did I mention gorgeous? A literal feast for the eyes (and belly). If you want a hassle-free but incredible food spread at your next event in the Los Angeles area, OnBoard is an absolute must! And in between all that yummy food and drink, we were getting our cards read by the incomparable Tina Tack Anderson of True Arrow Tarot. The line for her tarot sessions was out the door all night and I actually never even got to have mine—or, in all seriousness, I was going to have Corn’s cards read because YES!!! Animal tarot readings are a thing and she offers them virtually through her shop (also people tarot sessions, as well). She also just published her first tarot deck and you can grab a copy here! (and you can see in the photos where we were showing Princess Vespa the card in the deck that she appears in lololol) Follow along with Tina on IG at @truearrowtarot.

And then, of course, there were chickens. Chickens everywhere.

Did we paint a drinking with chickens mural on our garage? Yes. Yes, we did.

My dad came into town and was looking quite dapper in his tropical chicken-and-cocktail button-up shirt. Get your own here.

Corn and her No. 1 Fan, Ken. If you feel like you need a Pineapple Princess Corn t-shirt for yourself…get one here.

And it wouldn’t truly be a party if the blue chicken didn’t join us for part of the evening. He’s such a damned ham and was in his absolute element:

Gotta give a nod to these ridiculous chicken balloons. They’re cute and funny as hell—they weirdly and magically mill around in the breeze and flock together like real chickens…it’s such a trip. So I highly recommend them for your next chicken-themed event (link below). And best of all: they’re reusable—so they can be deflated and used for allllllll the chicken parties foreverrrrrrrr!

The evening was pretty extra and that’s just the way we like it (shout out to Thalita Mangin Photography for capturing it all so beautifully! Follow her work on IG at @thalitamanginphotography.)
